WASHINGTON (AP) — The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee says it's important for Congress to be squarely in the middle of the discussion of any world power nuclear deal with Iran. Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker says Congress needs to make sure the right questions are being asked. President Barack Obama says he has the right to enter binding agreements with foreign powers.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Defense Secretary Ash Carter will visit Japan and South Korea this week as the U.S. tries to keep the focus on its publicly stated shift to Asia, despite crises in the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere which continue to command attention. Carter's trip is part of a string of planned trips to the region during his first year as Pentagon chief.

BEIRUT (AP) — A U.N. official says the battle for a Palestinian refugee camp in the Syrian capital has created a situation that is "beyond inhumane." Chris Gunness, a spokesman for the U.N. agency that supports Palestinian refugees, says the agency has not been able to send aid into the camp. He says that means very little food, water or medicine. Islamic State militants attacked the camp last week.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Nobody's getting fired at Rolling Stone, but the magazine says it's going to bolster its editorial standards following the now-retracted tale about an alleged college rape. The magazine's promise follows a top journalism school's scathing review of the widely discredited story. The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism report calls it a "journalistic failure that was avoidable."

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Police say they're investigating the shooting of five people, including three young children, inside a townhome. All five victims are hospitalized in serious condition. Police say they're searching for three male suspects who were inside the home when the shooting occurred. Police say there was a witness who was not hit by gunfire. Police believe someone in the house knew the suspects.
