LOGAN — Utah State's football program is on the upswing following its third straight bowl win and second-most wins in a season in 2014.
The Aggies hope to continue that momentum in the coming years against a traditional West Coast power.
The Aggies announced Wednesday the addition of a scheduled game against University of Southern California for the 2016 season. The Trojans will host Utah State on Sept. 10, 2016. Broadcast times and details will be available at a later date.
The Trojans and Aggies will meet for the sixth time in 2016, with USC winning all five previous contests. USC won the previous contest 17-14 in 2013, which was also the last time the Aggies faced a Pac-12 foe. Utah State is 40-122-5 all-time against current members of the Pac-12 with a 29-78-4 record against in-state foe Utah.
Utah State joins Alabama and Notre Dame as the Trojans' nonconference opponents in 2016. USC will face the Crimson Tide in Arlington, Texas, a week before its game against Utah State.
The Aggies still have two spots to fill in their 2016 nonconference schedule. Utah State will play at BYU on Nov. 26, 2016, a week before the scheduled Mountain West Conference championship game.
USC also added games against Western Michigan in 2017 and UNLV in 2019.
