UNDATED (AP) — The millions who live in the impact zone of a massive snow storm in the Northeast are being advised by local and state governments to remain at home and prepare for power outages. Travel by non-essential vehicles after 11 p.m. in New York has been banned. Others states are also enacting road restrictions. Forecasters warn accumulations in some areas will be measured in feet and that powerful winds will create dangerous white-out conditions.

UNDATED (AP) — The number of flights canceled because of the massive storm in the Northeast is approaching 7,000. And 2,000 flights have been delayed. That's according to tracking service FlightAware.com. Airlines are making cancelations to prevent stranding passengers at airports and to avoid having planes stuck in closed airports.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Secret Service says it was a hobbyist who was behind the crash of a small drone on the White House grounds early today. Officials say the man came forward and that the use of the two-foot-long aircraft was recreational. President Barack Obama and the first lady were overseas when the quadcopter struck the southeast side of the grounds at about 3 a.m.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats charge that they are being left in the dark by the Republican chairman of a House committee investigating the 2012 attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya that left four Americans dead. The panel's top Democrat, Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, says South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy has held secret meetings with witnesses.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) — A Florida woman faces animal abuse charges for allegedly drowning a 2-week-old puppy in a Nebraska airport bathroom so she could board a plane. Police in Grand Island say the woman was denied access to a Friday flight at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport because the puppy was not properly contained. Another woman reported finding a dead Doberman puppy in a toilet.
