PARIS (AP) — "Terror is no match for freedom and ideals we stand for." Those are the words written by President Barack Obama in a condolence book at the French Embassy in Washington today as France mourns Wednesday's massacre of 12 people at a satirical newspaper in Paris. Two suspects, brothers with al-Qaida sympathies, are on the loose and a massive manhunt is underway.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Transportation Security Administration is considering additional security measures for airport and airline employees. The announcement comes weeks after five people were arrested in a gun-smuggling operation involving passenger jets traveling between Atlanta and New York City. One of those arrested was a Delta baggage handler and ramp agent.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut teenager being forced by state officials to undergo chemotherapy for her cancer says she understands she'll die if she stops treatment but that it should be her decision. The state Supreme Court ruled today officials aren't violating her rights. Seventeen-year-old Cassandra C. says it disgusts her to have "such toxic harmful drugs" in her body and would like to explore alternative treatments.

BAD AXE, Mich. (AP) — A couple accused of keeping their 19-year-old adopted son in a cage at their home in rural eastern Michigan face sentencing in March. Karen and Timothy Tolin each pleaded no contest to a charge of unlawful imprisonment today. In October, authorities removed three adults and two children from the Paris Township home, which was not a licensed care facility.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A legendary gospel performer, songwriter and choir director whose work graced songs by Michael Jackson and Madonna and movies such as "The Lion King," has died. Andrae Crouch, was 72. He died Thursday at a hospital in Los Angeles, where he was admitted Saturday after suffering a heart attack. Crouch's career spanned more than half a century.
