LAS VEGAS (AP) — A snowstorm cleared out and left cold temperatures in Reno, while Las Vegas awoke to a sunny but windy Christmas.
National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Smallcomb tells the Reno Gazette-Journal (http://on.rgj.com/1wKNKoN ) that a storm that brought up to 5 inches at Lake Tahoe-area ski resorts and about a half-inch of snow to Reno heralded a change to seasonal late-December weather.
Forecasts called for a slight chance of snow in Reno, with high temperatures of 37 and lows of about 23. Highs of about 30 and lows in the upper teens were expected in the mountains.
In southern Nevada, gusts topping 40 mph prompted a regional wind advisory, but no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported no flight delays at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
