New president named at Maysville Community College

MAYSVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Maysville Community and Technical College has a new president, Stephen Vacik (VAY'-sik).

Kentucky Community and Technical College System President Michael B. McCall announced Vacik's appointment on Friday.

Vacik has been president of Colby Community College in Kansas since 2011. He's also a former academic dean and vice president of instruction at East Mississippi Community College. He also previously held faculty and administrative positions at Bevill State Community College in Alabama.

Vacik holds bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Alabama.

He will begin serving as president on Jan. 1.
