I have hogged this book review entirely too much to myself and the fiction and non-fiction I am drawn to. Today, I will share my 3-year-old son's latest picks with you from the children's bestseller list. His first selection, his favorite other than anything Curious George, is Smash! Crash! By Jon Scieszka. Ethan loves anything that has to do with trucks and cars, including this book, where all the characters are trucks. Jack Truck, Dump Truck Dan, Payloader Pete, Monster Truck Max. The characters are very reminiscent of the movie Cars, but with a more childish story line. And the illustrations are colorful and fun. He loves it. Say no more.

Ethan's second pick of the week is one I actually steered him toward. As a parent who reads many books, and many books many times over, I'm always looking for something I might enjoy too. I thought an offering from Jeff Foxworthy would be fun, and it is. Dirt on My Shirt, written by the comedian and host of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, is a collection of poems. They're cute, for a redneck. He's no Shel Silverstein, but they're sweet and short and funny -three winning qualities for kids' books. And the illustrations are wonderful.

I'll have two more Ethan picks next week, but for now Ethan gives a thumb's up for Dirt on My Shirt by Jeff Foxworthy and Smash! Crash! by Jon Scieszka.
