LAS VEGAS (AP) — Seven percent of active voters in Nevada have cast their primary ballot during early voting whh closes today. Absentee ballots must be received by election day next Tuesday. Secretary of State Ross Miller has predicted turnout will be near the record low 18 percent seen in the 2008 primary.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Bail was set at $250,000 for a Las Vegas man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a young girl walking on a shortcut public trail to school. A judge appointed Reginald Davis a public defender and scheduled a preliminary hearing July 8. Davis' charges could get him up to life in prison if he's convicted.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas attorney is calling a sitting Nevada judge biased because she wouldn't suspend a medical malpractice and wrongful death trial for two days to accommodate his Jewish religious holiday observance. Attorney Jacob Hafter tells the Review-Journal that he has petitioned the state Supreme Court, but received no response.

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A semi-truck driver who admitted he was speeding when he slammed into a car and tow truck on the side of a rural Nevada highway apologized to the families of three victims before he was sentenced to up to four years in prison. Samuel Rosenbaum pleaded guilty in March to three counts of involuntary manslaughter in the 2011 deaths of a Spokane, Washington couple and a tow-truck driver from Wells.
