LAS VEGAS (AP) — Seven percent of active voters in Nevada have cast their ballot during early voting in the primary election. Early voting closes today, while absentee ballots must be received by election day June 10. Secretary of State Ross Miller has predicted turnout will be near the record low 18 percent seen in the 2008 primary.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Bail was set at $250,000 for a 25-year-old Las Vegas man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a young girl walking on a shortcut public trail to school. A Las Vegas judge appointed Reginald Davis a public defender and scheduled a preliminary hearing July 8. Davis' charges could get him up to life in prison if he's convicted.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County jail inmate who escaped from a Reno hospital room and assaulted an officer before he was shot in the leg has been convicted of several felony charges. Prosecutors say 53-year-old Vincent Cordova Sr. faces up to 15 years in prison at his sentencing July 23. Cordova fled his room at Saint Mary's in October after he'd been transported there from the jail complaining of chest pains.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas attorney is calling a sitting Nevada judge biased because she wouldn't suspend a medical malpractice and wrongful death trial for two days to accommodate his Jewish religious holiday observance. Attorney Jacob Hafter tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he has petitioned the state Supreme Court, but received no response.
