LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 36-year-old Las Vegas man who told police his girlfriend shot herself is jailed on an attempted murder charge. The man was arrested after calling police about 6 a.m. Sunday to a home where officers found 27-year-old Jessica Smalls with a gunshot wound. Police say he told investigators at first that Smalls shot herself, then said he accidentally shot her during an argument.

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — A judge has granted a public defender's request to delay a bail hearing for 10 days for a 73-year-old Sparks man accused of a killing that has drawn attention to Nevada's "stand your ground" law. After some initial disagreement with his lawyer, Wayne Burgarello agreed Monday to postpone his hearing and return to jail. Burgarello told police he acted in self-defense Feb. 13 when he killed a man and shot a woman he found in a vacant duplex he owns.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police are identifying two Las Vegas officers involved in a shootout that left a 31-year-old purse-snatching suspect dead after a weekend vehicle chase. Officers Jeffrey Gentry and Bryce Martines were on paid leave Monday pending investigations of the slaying of Danny Michael Wadsworth Jr. late Friday. Police say Wadsworth was killed after opening fire at police.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — What happens in Vegas won't necessarily stay in Vegas after a company opened up registrations for Web addresses with a dot-Vegas suffix. Dot Vegas Inc. is allowing sign-ups for the new domains Monday. High-demand names auctioned starting Aug. 14, and addresses will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting Sept. 15.
