"10,000 B.C." What an incredible mish mash of misguided grandiose ambitions colliding with a story line that is too complicated and ludicrous to even warrant imaginative consideration. We're asked to buy into the plight of a mountain tribe of pre-historic folk whose way of life is threatened by diminishing herds of wooly mammoths. As if that isn't bad enough, there's an aging medicine woman's prophesy declaring that the tribe will be ravaged by four legged demons and a warrior will arise from their midst to save their people. Still with me? Sure enough, warriors on horseback ravage the village and carry off a gaggle of slaves. Motivated, in no small part, by the fact that the young woman he loves is one of the abductees, the hunter, D'Leh, played by Steven Strait, takes out after the villains. Mix "Apocalypto" with an old time biblical epic….throw in pre-historic creatures, extract the budget, the direction and the star power and voila, you have "10,000 B.C." What a mess. Just 1 ½ stars for "!0,000 B.C." and its rated PG-13.

Also out this weekend... corruption, scandal and murder rolled into the action thriller "The Bank Job" starring Jason Statham. And, "College Road Trip". Another Martin Lawrence comedy... with Disney star Raven-Symone and Donny Osmond... yes that Donny Osmond.
