TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (March 28, 2013) —The Utah Region of the National Auto Sport Association (NASA), based at Miller Motorsports Park, is making some big changes in preparation for the upcoming 2013 season.
This weekend, March 30-31, kicks off the second full season of racing for NASA Utah, with a schedule of six points-paying race weekends between March and October plus a non-points, season-ending endurance race. Each race weekend includes races on both Saturday and Sunday, in a variety of classes ranging from small-bore Mazda Miatas to ground-pounding Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros and Corvettes and Porsche 911s.
There will be a new hand on the tiller of NASA Utah this season, as Aaron "Biggie" Brown has stepped down from his position as Regional Director. Roger Miller has been named the new Regional Director.
Since Miller Motorsports Park will host the NASA National Championships September 5-8 for the second time, NASA Utah has arranged for four of its five events that will take place prior to the National Championships to be run on the 3.05-mile Outer Course, the same track configuration that the National Championships will utilize.
There will also be some special, additional races taking place with NASA Utah this year. The United States Touring Car Championship will be part of the June 22-23 weekend, and the August 10-11 weekend will also include a six-hour endurance event for the NASA Western Endurance Racing Championship series. In addition, competitors who want to race in both the August NASA Utah/NASA WERC event and the National Championships will be offered free onsite storage for their tow rigs, thus saving the cost of towing to Miller Motorsports Park twice in one month.
"We're really excited about the 2013 NASA Utah season," said Roger Miller. "With the National Championships coming back this year, along with the USTCC and WERC races, it's going to be a great year of racing. We're hoping for record entries all year, and great racing in all classes."
This weekend's races will take place on the Outer Course at Miller Motorsports Park, with a full slate of races on both Saturday and Sunday. There will be a special, discounted price on tickets for this weekend's NASA Utah event. Admission will be $5 for the weekend for adults (regular price $6 per day), and kids 12 and under will be admitted free of charge.
