NEW YORK (AP) -- The Baltimore Ravens have taken defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (hah-LOH'-tee NAH'-tah) after acquiring the 12th overall pick in the N-F-L draft from the Cleveland Browns.
Ngata was a major disruption to blockers while at Oregon, where he finished with 16 tackles, nine for loss and three sacks last year. He also had six career blocked kicks with the Ducks.
Ngata can be productive against double teams, thanks in part to his desire and size. He's over six-foot-four and 338 pounds but shows surprising mobility.
Ngata could be an exceptional pocket-collapsing bull rusher and run-stuffer in the pros. He has bench pressed 500 pounds and rarely gets knocked backward.
Ngata sometimes took plays off and occasionally displayed an inconsistent effort. But his uncommon size and strength make him a desirable talent.
