IMAGINE THIS SETUP...YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE, CELEBRATING AN ANNIVERSARY, PLAYING GOLF TOGETHER. WHAT'S THE BEST THING THAT COULD EVER HAPPEN TO YOU....BOTH? YEAH!...KATHY AIKEN REPORTS ON TWO GOLFERS' WISHES THAT CAME TRUE.
This is the story of Keith and Karla Klingenberg's lucky day.
So unbelievable, if complete strangers, Boyd and Vickie Lindquist hadn't seen it themselves, no one would have believed it.
Incredible because last Saturday, at the new Ledges golf course in St. George,
Keith pulled out his hand-me-down 7 iron...stepped up to the par 3, 10th hole...and 175 yards later...
"I REALLY DIDN'T THINK MINE WAS IN..I THOUGHT IT WAS HIDING."
"JUST UNBELIEVABLE AND OF COURSE THERE'S NO ROARING FANS IN THE STADIUM AND YOU GO WO DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN."
But that's not the end of the story. Karla, on the very same hole, grabbed her driver and with 136 yards she took a swing.
"I HIT A HOLE IN ONE."
That's right...both Keith and Karla hit back to back holes in one on the same hole.
"UNBELIEVABLE THAT SOMETHING LIKE THAT COULD HAPPEN ON THE SAME HOLE."
"I DON'T THINK IT'S EVER BEEN DONE."
Joe Watts of the Utah Golf Association was as surprised as anyone.
"SINCE YOU'VE TOLD US ABOUT THIS STORY WE'VE CALLED SOME OF THE NATIONAL PUBLICATIONS HAVE HEARD ABOUT A COUPLE GETTING BACK TO BACK ON THE SAME HOLE...IT'S INCREDIBLE." "IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN."
But it happened once...2 hits...10th hole...on their 5th anniversary.
"THEY PROBABLY WISH IN HINDSIGHT THEY HAD GONE A LITTLEL FARTHER TO MESQUITE...THEY MAY HAVE WIPED OUT THE TOWN."
We haven't been able to determine the odds of this exceptional event happening....but they must be astronomical.
