Hey if you’re looking for something a little different to give dear old dad for Father’s Day this year, how about treating pop to a trip to Greece? Well OK, we’re not actually talking about a trip over to the Mediterranean. But the next best thing might be giving dad a flavor of Greece by checking out the “Taste of Greece” festival and fund raising event this Sunday.

The Taste of Greece Fund Raiser Event will be held on Father’s Day to raise money for the Carillon Bells at both Holy Trinity and Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Churches. And A Taste of Greece will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral Memorial Building at 3rd West and 3rd South in Salt Lake City this Sunday at 6:00 PM.

Local Greek restaurants have donated all the food for the Taste of Greece festival and there’ll be over 20 food items available including spanikopita, dolmathes, pastichio, souvlaki, and grilled octopus. In addition, traditional Greek beverages will be sold and there will be Greek dancing and even a real bouzouki player to perform live.

This is an especially good opportunity to indulge in a bit of Greek cuisine and culture if you missed the Greek Festival this year or if that event has just become too crowded for you to handle.

And I can guarantee that treating dad to Greece this Sunday will be a Father’s Day he won’t soon forget!
