This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

The dance scene in Utah is hopping right now with Utahns being prominently featured on popular shows like "Dancing With the Stars," "So You Think You Can Dance" and even "High School Musical." A few years ago Salt Lake City was chosen as one of the audition cities.

Some of that attention is coming because of CenterStage Performing Arts Studio in Orem. This studio's former students are performing in some of the top venues around the country, like Broadway and Julliard School of Dance. In addition, CenterStage Performing Arts Studio recently competed against 170 of the top dance studios in the nation to win The Dance Award, a prestigious honor now earning them national recognition. They're contributing to Utah's reputation as a top arts destination.

Kim DelGrosso, who co-owns the studio with Alex and Robin Murillo (muh-ree-oh), said she got involved with CenterStage Performing Arts Studio 24 years ago after moving to Utah. She had a vision of creating a top performing arts studio in Utah and combined with Darryl Yeager, who now directs Odyssey Dance Theater, and the Murillos to make it happen. It's worked out much better than she could have anticipated, as they now have 25 teachers and 700 students at their Orem studio. They're also training the second generation from their original students.

In the entertainment industry today, Kim says it's essential to be a triple threat, so in addition to all types of dance, they also teach vocal and acting classes. A best practice for CenterStage Performing Arts Studio is to give their students plenty of stage time so they're savvy performers who are completely comfortable on stage. When someone comes into the studio to try out, the top qualities they look for are drive, talent and musicality. While talent is important, it's drive that gets students where they need to be.

Kim says CenterStage Performing Arts Studio is a well-established company dedicated to teaching talented dancers. For more information or to see a class schedule, visit centerstageutah.com.
