This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Just walking into Whimsy Photography in North Logan, with brightly colored walls, a friendly, open space and daisies on the wall, you can see you're in for something different. And talking to owners Tad and Malana Thornton, you soon discover why.
Tad says the idea for Whimsy Photography came after he attended a photography session with his wife. They loved the pictures but found themselves completely torn afterwards trying to choose which ones to print, available only that day. Not to mention any additional photo creations the studio decided to create with your images.
As experienced photographers, and parents of five children, Tad and Malana decided it was time for something different. They opened Whimsy Photography in November 2011 to offer great photography at competitive prices. They've enjoyed watching the business steadily grow as satisfied customers pass the word along to their family and friends. They're also gaining a following through social media channels, like Facebook.
Whimsy Photography has 20 different backdrops for customers to choose from, and they're one of the only studios in Cache Valley with an area large enough to hold an entire family for an indoor session. This is helpful in the winter months when it's too cold to go outside. These guys are also set up to provide photo creations, like float wraps, or canvas prints with a block on the back so they look like they're floating off the wall.
With four photographers on staff, Whimsy Photography is adding to Utah's job creation, so critical to our economic growth. Small businesses make up over 90 percent of our state economy and are one of the reasons Utah's unemployment rate is sitting at 6 percent.
For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
