OGDEN, Utah - Weber State University quarterback Cameron Higgins has been reinstated to the Wildcat football team following a two-day suspension.
Higgins was one of three players cited by campus police following an investigation into a shoplifting incident that occurred at the university bookstore on Monday.
The citations were reviewed by the Ogden City Prosecutor*s office, which determined there was insufficient evidence to file charges against Higgins.
"We take the conduct of our student-athletes very seriously at Weber State and hold them to a high standard," said athletic director Jerry Graybeal. "In fairness to Cameron, now that he has been cleared in this matter, he has been reinstated to the football team."
The Wildcats will play at Northern Colorado on Saturday. Coach Ron McBride said quarterback Brendon Doyle, who has taken the majority of snaps in practice this week, will start the game in Greeley, Col. Higgins is expected to get some playing time as well.
Higgins, a red-shirt freshman from Honolulu, Hawaii, has started two games at quarterback for the Wildcats this season, including last week's 26-7 win over Sacramento State.
