WEST VALLEY CITY - Jordan Loveridge and Jaden Jackson combined for 43 points as West Jordan defeated Fremont 68-38 in the first round of the 5A state tournament.

The Jaguars outscored Fremont 22-4 in the opening quarter and never looked back. Loveridge scored 13 of his 21 points in the opening quarter. Jackson had 8 assists to go with 22 points. West Jordan shot 52 percent from the field.

Fremont was led in scoring by Brock Smith who scored 17 points. The Silverwolves struggled against the Jaguars defense shooting just 28 percent from the field.

West Jordan will face Bingham in the 5A quarterfinals on Thursday.
