SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Kyle Brown scored off a rebound in the 30th minute to lead Real Salt Lake to a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids in a steady rain on Saturday night.

The victory snapped a four-game winless streak, and kept Salt Lake (5-13-8) from being eliminated from the MLS playoff race with four games remaining in the regular season.

The Rapids (7-11-8) are still behind Chicago for the final playoff berth.

Goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul kept Salt Lake off the board with a diving, one-handed save of Chris Brown's shot from the left side in the 30th minute. But he could not regain his feet in time to stop Kyle Brown from taking control of the rebound in front of the net and knocking in his second goal of the season.

Salt Lake has scored 12 goals in its last seven games, after scoring only 14 in its first 19. The Rapids, meanwhile, were shut out for the first time in seven games, and lost for just the second time in that span.

The game was the first meeting between Colorado's Mehdi Ballouchy and Salt Lake's Kyle Beckerman, midfielders who were traded for one another on July 16. Salt Lake's Chris Wingert also joined the team in a trade from the Rapids this season.
