Utah State holds on to defeat Denver 61-53

DENVER (AP) -- Brian Green scored 14 points and Brady Jardine and Brockeith Pane each had 13 as Utah State defeated Denver 61-53 Wednesday night.

Pane added nine rebounds for the Aggies (5-1), who have won four straight and outrebounded the Pioneers 33-17. Kyle Lewis came off the bench to lead Denver (1-6) with 13 points while Chris Udofia scored 10.

Utah State trailed 43-40 with 12:22 to play before scoring the next seven points to take the lead for good. The Pioneers stayed within single digits most of the rest of the way and were within 55-51 with 2:10 remaining, but the Aggies hit six straight free throws to secure the victory.

Utah State shot 64.7 percent in the second half and 54.5 percent overall.
