(Photo: Jason Olson, Deseret News)SANDY — Putting everything together in the biggest game of the year, Lehi's boys soccer team overcame an early 1-0 deficit to claim the 4A state championship over Bonneville, 4-1, Thursday afternoon inside Rio Tinto Stadium.
Zach Morgan and Zach Stanley each scored twice for the Pioneers, who won their first boys soccer title in 12 years.
Bonneville went up 1-0 when star sophomore Gage Woodward scored in the 11th minute, but the Pioneers didn't panic. They got an equalizer eight minutes later, scored again to go ahead 15 minutes later and then added two goals in the second half to clinch the championship victory.
"They had that first goal, and we knew we had to step up our game so we could take the final," said Lehi star midfielder Ian Ramos. "Lehi hasn't won a championship in 13 years, so I knew we had to work hard to get it."
