Los Angeles/New Orleans (dpa) - U.S. Blues legend Fats Domino has been missing since Monday in the watery chaos that has descended on the fabled city of jazz, according to broadcast reports on Thursday.
Fox News quoted Domino's manager as saying he had received no communications from the 77-year-old singer and pianist since Monday. The musician told his manager in Nashville that he would ride out the storm in his New Orleans home.
The blues artist lives with his wife and a daughter in neighbourhood that is now under water after Hurricane Katrina hit the city on Monday and carved holes in the flood dams that surround the city.
Domino is most well known for his 1950s hits "I'm Walking to New Orleans", "Ain't That a Shame", and "Blueberry Hill".
He continued to be in demand as a live performer into the '90s, when he carried out world tours. He was accepted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2003.
Domino's first hit was "The Fat Man" in 1949, when he poked gentle fun at his overweight body.
