SALT LAKE CITY – The records of former Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., now a GOP candidate for president, have been added to the state archives collection available online.

The "Governors of Utah Digital Collection," which includes more than 73,000 items from governors who served from 1993 to 2009, is available at archives.utah.gov/digital/index.html.

Huntsman's records became news earlier this year, when copies of letters from him praising two Democratic leaders surfaced in the Washington, D.C., press.

Those letters, to President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton, were written as Huntsman was stepping down as governor to become Obama's U.S. ambassador to China.

Their release renewed interest among Beltway bloggers in the question of whether Huntsman would be taken seriously as a Republican challenger to Obama after playing a key role in the Democratic president's administration.
