SALT LAKE CITY — Police are looking for a man who robbed a Tesoro on Beck Street at gunpoint Friday night after two botched robberies in downtown Salt Lake City.

The man first attempted to rob a couple on the corner of 3rd West and North Temple at about 7:06 p.m. but they didn't have money, the Salt Lake City police department said.

He then attempted to rob the Crown Burger at the same corner but it wasn't going well and he left, police said.

On the third attempt at about 7:27 p.m., the man was successful and left a Tesoro at 965 North Beck Street with an undisclosed amount of cash after demanding money from the stores manager at gunpoint.

Police say he then fled in a Nissan Sentra.

Witnesses describe the man as dark skinned with a medium build who's 5-foot-7-inches to 6 feet tall.

He was last seen wearing a dark colored parka with a hood and a red bandana over his face. He wore sunglasses during the first two attempted robberies.

Anyone with information about the man can call Salt Lake City Police at 801-799-3000.
