It happened at 500 North and 600 West. The gun fight between two people in a car and a man on foot ended just before 10:00 tonight. Twenty to thirty rounds lay on the ground by the time it was over.

Police believe the two suspects were targeting a house about a half block away. The suspects, a man and his girlfriend, were caught shortly after the shooting.

When the suspects started shooting at the house, a man inside the home came out and started shooting back at the vehicle. That's when it moved up the block.

The investigator on the scene says now that they've questioned suspects and collected evidence, the investigation will be handled by the gang unit.

Investigator: "Yeah, our gang investigators will follow up on this. And they have the two individuals out of the car that they're questioning at the police department now. And they will continue to follow up on it."

A worker at a nearby business says a similar incident took place on Sunday. Police believe it's probably the same group because the suspects were driving in the same vehicle, a blue Cadillac.

A neighbor in the house next door says she took her children into the bathroom when she heard the shots, for safety.
