LAYTON — Layton High School was put under a precautionary lockout for a short time Thursday morning after a nearby bank robbery, and police are still searching for the robber, police said.
The Wells Fargo at 320 E. Gentile St. was robbed around 9 a.m., according to the Layton City Police Department. A man entered the bank and gave the teller a note demanding money and stating he had a gun, police said. A weapon was never shown and there were no injuries during the robbery. The man fled the scene on foot.
The bank teller described the robber as a white male in his 20s around 6 feet tall. He had short, light colored hair and was wearing a long sleeve gray shirt, jeans and dark sunglasses at the time of the robbery. He also was carrying a light colored bag with a dark strap.
The lockout went into effect around 10:15 a.m., according to Davis School District officials. The exterior doors of the high school were locked as a precaution. The lockout was lifted at 10:35 a.m.
