SANDY — Nick Rimando made one save to help Real Salt Lake earn its first shutout since April 16 with a 0-0 draw with New England on Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Salt Lake nearly bagged a goal just five minutes into the match when Juan Manuel Martinez flicked a backheel pass to Joao Plata, but the Ecuadorian striker's touch sailed high of the goal from 12 yards out.
Kei Kamara converted for the Revolution in the 50th minute, but his goal was called offside. The former Columbus striker took a cross from Kelyn Rowe and buried it for the near lead, but referee Ismail Elfath blew his whistle to call the goal back on an offside violation.
RSL next hosts Inter Milan of Italy's Serie A in a mid-summer friendly Tuesday at Rio Tinto Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. MT.
