EAGLE MOUNTAIN — A 10-month-old girl drowned in a bathtub at her home Thursday, police said.

Several officers responded to the house on Blue Sky Drive just after noon to perform CPR. Life Flight and Unified fire personnel also responded to the scene, Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.

Personnel tried to revive the baby for around 45 minutes, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The baby was identified as Magnolia Anderson.

Magnolia's mother was at home with her 3 and 5-year-old children when she took Magnolia to the bathtub to clean her up from a diaper change, Cannon said.

When another child needed the mother's attention, Cannon said she left Magnolia in the tub without the water running.

Cannon believes about 10 minutes passed before the mother went back into the bathroom, and discovered the water had somehow been turned on.

Magnolia's mom called 911 and began to administer CPR as she was on the phone, Cannon said.

Police are unsure how the water got turned on, but do not expect anything suspicious or unusual, Cannon said.

The Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an examination to determine the cause and manner of death, but police don't expect any surprises, Cannon said.

Cannon said one can never account for what could happen, and "an abundance of caution is always advised."

The family has a good support system of family and friends, Cannon said.

Correction: Police originally reported the baby was 9 months old. It was later confirmed she is 10 months old.
