SALT LAKE CITY — Every day, there are examples of kindness and goodness around us. But do we take the time to notice or reciprocate them?

Each week, KSL.com features stories of times that have made an impact in your attitude and the way you see the world. Whether it was a moment that made you grateful for your family or a time you were able to serve another person, we want to hear your stories.

On an encouraging note:

Kyle A.

"Two years ago when my then 6-year-old niece was in the middle of battling cancer, she became very self-conscious of her bald head and everyone staring. She felt like people were staring to be mean. She then received the most heart felt note from a sixth grader telling her how she can't help but stop and admire her every time she saw her at recess. The note went on to say how beautiful she was with or without hair and how much she looked up to her. It made a difference in how my niece saw herself and helped her realize people weren't staring at her to be mean, but out of admiration. I can't thank that girl enough for taking the time to write a note that made a difference in my niece's tough battle with cancer!"

On getting someone out of the rain:

Linda S.

"Each evening around 8 p.m., I take my very old dog for a walk. On Sunday Sept. 28, the sky started getting dark and thunder and lightning started in the distance.

"I told my old boy that we should go early and we could make it back home prior to the rain starting. We made it about half way (a quarter mile from home) when the heavens opened and hail and rain started a downpour. I stopped under a large tree and huddled over my dog, wrapping my rain coat around him. We sat in the rain and hail for about 10 minutes when I noticed a gentleman and his wife in the doorway of their house across the street. They watched us for a moment and then the man walked out into the rain and got in his vehicle, he backed out of his driveway and pulled across the street in front of me. He asked me to get in with my old, wet dog and drove us home.

"Unbelievable! We were both so very grateful, I thanked him and he said he would hope that someone would help him in a time of need. It is powerful to know that there are still wonderful, caring people in the world who will take away from there own comfort to help someone in need. A true rainbow in the midst of a very rainy night."

On stopping to help:

Amy E.

"This past summer, on probably one of the hottest days, my husband was driving home my 1969 Volkswagon Beetle when it died on the interstate. He was able to push it off I-15 but found himself in a very remote location.

"My husband called to have me pick him up and tow the vehicle to the nearest station. Unfortunately, I wasn`t scheduled to get off work for at least an hour and I couldn't leave the other employee by herself.

"About 45 minutes or more into his wait, a man passing by saw my husband sitting there sweating it out. The man drove home, got his truck and came back to tow the car in. It would have been easy to keep on going and assume someone else would help, but he stopped and his efforts are deeply appreciated."

On apologizing:

Joy-Ann T.

"I went to Beans and Brew off 13400 S. and Bangeter Highway one recent morning around 6:40 am. I was a bit surprised when a woman cut me off and almost took off the front end of my car.

"I ended up thinking some nasty thoughts, but when I got to the window to pay, I found out she had paid for my Danish and large cafe mocha. I've never had this happen to me and would like to say thank you to the nice woman and hope that she also had a Happy Monday."
