SWITZERLAND — According to a report from The Telegraph, construction is nearing completion on a suspension bridge between two peaks (Glacier 3000 and Scex Rouge) in the Swiss Alps.

Located in the canton of Vaud, the Peak Walk will allow visitors to walk across the glass-bottomed structure at 9,700 feet above sea level. Below the bridge is a stomach-churning 6,500-foot drop into the valley. On clear days, Mont Blanc and the Eiger will also be visible in the distance.

The perilous location of the bridge has made construction difficult. Summer storms have delayed the arrival of some of the building materials, but a team of helicopters is now ferrying concrete and cables to the peaks. A new helicopter arrives every six minutes.

Once it’s completed, the Peak Walk will accommodate up to 300 visitors at a time. And because it’s designed to endure winds of up to 155 miles per hour, the attraction will be open year-round.

Believed to be the world’s first suspension bridge to connect two peaks, the Peak Walk is undoubtedly an engineering marvel. However, what it can’t claim is the title of world’s highest suspension bridge. The Titlis Cliff Walk, also located in Switzerland, is located at a whopping 9,900 feet above sea level.
