NAPLES, Uintah County — Utah Highway Patrol troopers are trying to determine what caused a Vernal woman to crash into two tractor-trailer trucks Wednesday.
Dispatchers broadcast an "attempt to locate" call just before 4:40 p.m. for a reckless driver in a white sport-utility vehicle on U.S. 40 east of Naples, UHP Sgt. Brett Gehring said. Minutes later, calls began coming in that the eastbound SUV had hit two westbound tractor-trailer trucks, the sergeant said.
The SUV, driven by Cameo Adawn Crispi, glanced off the flatbed trailer being pulled by the first truck, then crashed into the wheels of the second truck just behind the cab, Gehring said.
"The driver of the second truck said (Crispi's) head was down like she was passed out," the sergeant said.
"The way she was acting didn't make sense with her injuries," he said, describing Crispi as "incoherent."

"We don't know if she was on medication, having a medical problem or just banged her head," Gehring said.
Crispi, 31, was taken to Ashley Regional Medical Center, then flown by medical helicopter to a Salt Lake hospital for additional treatment, the trooper said.
Neither truck driver was injured in the crash, Gehring said.
