NEW ORLEANS -- Tulane's head coach flat out admits, his team isn't as good as BYU. In fact, he's having his quarterback study the Cougar's Max Hall on how to play the position.

Green Wave head coach Bob Toledo is trying to build up his program. Tulane (0-1, 0-1) is coming off a 2-10 season (1-7 in Conference USA) and lost 16 seniors to graduation.

"It's going to be a very difficult football game. They're a better football team than we are at this point," Toledo admits. "We're young, we're inexperienced. We're trying to build this program up. We just have to hope to make it a competitive game."

The Green Wave lost their season opener to conference opponent Tulsa, 37-13. Now they host No. 9 BYU (1-0), which is coming off a stunning upset of then No. 3 Oklahoma, which fell to No. 13 in the AP poll.

"I look at Oklahoma and they couldn't run the ball a lick," Toledo observed. "And on the other hand BYU ran it down Oklahoma's throat, I thought."

But he admits an effective running game is a must if you hope to have any chance of beating the Cougars.

"We've got to establish some sort of run to try to keep it away from their offense," Toledo said. "Obviously if you don't stop the run you're in trouble because they control whatever they want to do."

When asked about Hall, Toledo talked about his experience.

"[Hall] knows where to go with the football. Matter of fact I had Joe Kemp, our quarterback, watch him, watch his footwork and the things we are trying to teach Joe. He's well coached, he's got experience, he's got a lot of ability and obviously he's got a lot of confidence. He's a heck of a quarterback. He's one of the best quarterback's we'll see all year."

You can hear more from Tulane coach Bob Toledo Saturday, September 12 during the BYU pregame show in KSL Newsradio 102.7FM/1160AM beginning at 11:30 a.m.
