HUNTSVILLE, Weber County — Weber County sheriff's search crews found a body in Pineview Reservoir just off the shoreline Thursday.

The Utah State Medical Examiner's Office will now determine if the body is that of a Harrisville man who has been missing for nearly two weeks.

Joseph Shultz, 38, was last seen on the evening of May 14. His car was found near the Pineview Reservoir spillway just off state Route 39 on May 16, said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Lane Findlay.

Inside the vehicle, investigators found a paper bag believed to be from a liquor store and an empty pill bottle, he said. The back passenger window was also broken out and a softball-size rock was found inside the car. Findlay noted that several car burglaries had occurred in the area in recent weeks using the same method.

Crews had already searched the reservoir for Shultz three times using sonar before the fourth search on Thursday resulted in the discovery during the noon hour.

Schultz was described as suicidal when he disappeared, Findlay said. He had gotten into an argument with his wife on May 13 and spent the night at his mother's house. He left there the next night, which was the last time he was seen. His wife filed for a protective order against him on May 16, according to court records.

Findlay said as of Thursday there was no evidence to suggest foul play was involved.
