SALT LAKE CITY — Who hasn't looked at a recipe on Pinterest and thought, “Hey, that looks delicious and easy; I'll try that”?

Just like you, we at KSL.com want to know what recipes are keepers and the ones that need to be buried deep within the depths of the internet. Fortunately for you, the KSL.com team is going to try out various recipes we find on Pinterest (or ones sent to us), make them exactly as described and then write about the experience.

Each of us on the KSL.com team has varying degrees of interest and skill level when making and preparing food. Basically, what I'm saying is we’re not pros, which makes us just average people trying to make delicious food and hope it turns out well in the process. Will we fail at some recipes? Sure. Will some of the recipes fail us? Oh, most definitely. Hopefully, though, we can find some great recipes to try or to have a better sense of the ones to avoid.

If you have a recipe you'd like us to consider, send the Pinterest link(s) to kslweb@ksl.com. We have a Pinterest board where you can see all the recipes we’re considering.

Banana and Oatmeal Cookies

This simple Banana and Oatmeal Cookies recipe is advertised as a “healthy” cookie with no “butter, sugar, flour or dairy.” In its simplest form, this three-ingredient recipe is perfect for individuals who can’t consume dairy and do not want or cannot have gluten. However, adding items like craisins or white chocolate chips (as I did) change the health benefits of the cookies.

A side note: if you are not a fan of bananas, you probably won’t like this treat because the banana plays a major role in this recipe.

As expected, the recipe is incredibly easy to make and something you could make quickly with regular household items. Also, if you’re not really into baking or get scared by it, this is the treat for you to make. It would be hard to mess up this recipe.

I tried the plain version (the three ingredients) and a version that had some add-ins, namely craisins and white chocolate chips. Both versions tasted good, but the one with add-ins tasted slightly better. However, I would be perfectly content with the plain version.

Each cookie will vary in calories and in nutritional value based on what you add to it; however, the plain cookie is approximately 29 calories per cookie. In the alternative version I made, it would be approximately 42 calories. You would likely have to eat a few to satisfy your hunger pangs, but they are a decent option at breakfast, even if you have to eat a handful.

Overall, this Pinterest recipe passed the test. It was easy to make and was a tasty cookie alternative.
