PROVO — An exhibit with original illustrations from the famous Little Golden Books can be viewed at the Provo City Library this summer.
The display, “Golden Legacy,” will kick off the BYU Books for Young Readers Symposium, which will occur July 16 and 17 at the library. It will open early for symposium participants only on July 15 and run for the public through Sept. 23, according to a Brigham Young University press release.
Authors and illustrators will speak for more than an hour at the symposium, which focuses on children’s literature. They will address audience members about their creation process, inspiration and how they got started. They will also give a sneak peek at their new projects and answer questions from the audience.
Authors and illustrators visiting the symposium include Jon Klassen, Gene Luen Yang, Clare Vanderpool, Marilyn Singer, Sara Zarr and Leonard S. Marcus.
Some of the authors will participate in book signings at the event and the BYU Store will offer a discount for event participants.
“It’s rare to get this many authors — six award winners — together at one conference,” Emilee Barrett, Books for Young Readers Symposium organizer, said in a statement. “It’s not a huge conference, and anyone who loves children’s literature will enjoy the opportunity to get to know these wonderful authors.”
