CEDAR CITY — An 83-year-old Parowan man has admitted that he killed his stepdaughter.
Nathan Zimmerman pleaded guilty Tuesday to murder, a first-degree felony, in 5th District Court. He was charged on July 11, one day after police found 57-year-old Janet Collen Goode dead in his driveway.
Zimmerman was at his Parowan house, 272 S. 800 West, when Goode started walking toward him that day.
"He picked up the shotgun which he had pre-loaded, took it off safety, pointed the shotgun directly at Janet," and shot her once in the chest, court documents state.
Zimmerman later told police that he had "no remorse" for killing her and that "his intentions this day were to kill Janet Goode and no one else," according to the charges.
Court records indicate Zimmerman had filed for divorce with his wife that day, though it remains unclear if that contributed to the domestic dispute.
When sentenced, Zimmerman could face 15 years to life in prison.
