HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A former Bloomfield middle school teacher serving 10 years in prison for choking and sexually assaulting a woman is asking the state Board of Education to reconsider its revocation of his teaching certificate.
The board revoked the certificate of Dale Kukucka after he was convicted in December. Kukucka wrote a letter to the board asking that it reconsider. He wrote he is innocent, the trial was unfair and he expects the convictions to be overturned on appeal.
The board will consider the request Wednesday.
Prosecutors said Kukucka, of Andover, a former science teacher at Carmen Arace Intermediate School, attacked a 23-year-old woman inside a women's restroom during a parade in East Haddam in 2013. In March, Kukucka got another six months in jail for assaulting an 18-year-old woman in 2012.
