DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — Two teenagers from Connecticut have been charged with impersonating a high school teacher on Twitter and portraying her in a defamatory way.
The News-Times reports (http://bit.ly/1DgyQvE ) that 18-year-old Nickolas Brito and 18-year-old Mikayla Ramos, both of Danbury, were arrested Wednesday on charges including conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation and conspiracy to commit harassment. Ramos also was charged with giving a false statement to police.
Police say the two recent Danbury High School graduates created a fake Twitter account in the former teacher's name and disparaged her. Authorities say the former teacher discovered the fake account that had an actual photo of her in February.
Brito didn't immediately return a Facebook message Friday. No one answered a phone listing for Ramos. It's not clear if they have lawyers.
