LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy says it has fired a special education teacher after she and her ex-boyfriend were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child who was not a student at the school.
Police arrested 41-year-old Shannon Giardino and ex-boyfriend Jose Adrian Garcia this week.
The school notes the alleged crimes were not committed on campus.
KSNV-TV (http://bit.ly/1IPiXxx ) reports Giardino had been a teacher at the K-12 public charter school for two-and-a-half years.
Giardino faces two counts of sexual assault with a child under 14 years old and one count of child abuse or neglect. Garcia faces seven counts of lewdness and sexual assault of a child.
It wasn't clear if Giardino and Garcia are represented by an attorney. The two could not be reached for comment.
