DAVISON, Mich. (AP) — Residents near Flint say they aren't letting thieves deter them from operating small, homegrown libraries.
The Flint Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1rEyuZt ) Friday that two book boxes, known as "little free libraries," were closed in Davison until the residents who operate them can replace the dozens of burgled books.
Kim Carter says she discovered the roughly 50 books in the library on a bench in her front yard were taken sometime Wednesday while she was gone. Nearby, Lisa Brewer says the children's books in her collection had been taken the same evening.
They seek donations, which can be made at Anacelia's Mexican Restaurant locations in Flint and Burton.
Little free libraries are registered through a website in which people can register. The libraries aim to encourage neighbors to share books.
