LAS VEGAS (AP) — Pageant officials hope to send two Nevada contestants to the national Miss America's Outstanding Teen competition in Orlando, Florida next week after a scoring error at the state level crowned the wrong person.

Pageant national chair Donna Bozarth said in a statement that the family of the teen who was wrongly crowned has agreed to the proposal, but the unnamed winner's family has not.

Bozarth said she's hopeful the issue can be resolved.

Fifteen-year-old Amy Smith was crowned Miss Nevada's Outstanding Teen on June 1 and is headed to the national pageant.

After parents of other contestants complained and pushed for an audit, Miss America pageant officials determined that there were "scoring irregularities."
