RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Reno-based health care network Renown Health has announced a new partnership with several medical facilities affiliated with Stanford University.
Renown Health president and CEO Tony Slonim announced the deal Tuesday that he says will reduce the need for patients to travel to different centers in various states for high-level care.
The partnership includes Stanford Health Care, Stanford Children's Health and Stanford Medicine.
Slonim says it's especially important for children with conditions such as cancer or brain tumors that require treatment not available in the area.
Under the new deal, any transitioning of care to Stanford will be covered as an in-network benefit for Hometown Health members.
An analysis by Renown recently found that an estimated $40 million in health care spending leaves the region from patients seeking advanced care elsewhere.
