SALT LAKE CITY — An injured hiker was rescued Sunday morning from a trail behind the Natural History Museum.
The man was hiking alone on a popular trail when he fell off the trail. Other hikers in the area witnessed the fall and called 911.
Rescuers from the Salt Lake City Fire Department were able to rescue the victim, although they did have some challenges.
“There are still ice and snow up there and where this gentleman was, he was off the trail it was rocky conditions so we weren't able to easily walk to him,” Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Jasen Asay said.
The fire department's heavy rescue team often trains on the trail and was prepared for the challenges.
The man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
