BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON — At least one backcountry skier was partially buried in an avalanche Friday.

The Utah Avalanche Center reported two human-triggered slides Friday.

About 1:30 p.m., a backcountry skier in an area outside of Brighton Ski Resort's boundaries triggered a slide and was carried about 700 feet, according to the avalanche center. The skier was partially buried. He reportedly was able to get out with minor injuries.

In another incident about two hours later, snowmobilers triggered an avalanche in White Pine Canyon in Summit County. The snowmobilers were able to outrun the slide, according to the forecast center.

Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
