(KSL News) Even Utah's incomplete soccer stadium is getting dressed up for the holidays.

Officials of Real Salt Lake, along with city and state government representatives, gathered today for the stadium's "Topping Out Ceremony" in Sandy.

"Topping out" refers to the final piece of structural steel being raised into place in the stadium. Today, that piece of steel was "topped off" with a Christmas tree.

Apart from the holidays, the tree could represent efforts by Real to make the new stadium "green" year-round. "We're also spending time trying to make this stadium the greenest. It's a really significant piece of what we're trying to do," RSL owner Dave Checketts said.

The new stadium is expected to be completed by fall of next year.
