SALT LAKE CITY — This was a long awaited day for friends and family members of Utah's National Guard.

Twelve airmen from the Utah Air National Guard's 130th Engineering Installation Squadron returned home from a six-month deployment to the Middle East.

They arrived at Salt Lake International Airport this morning.

"It was our first deployment," said Stephanie Hendrickson, whose husband returned Friday. "It's been interesting with two kids, but it's been good. ...There was a lot of explaining every night why dad wasn't coming home."

During their deployment the airmen performed installation of communications equipment, fiber-optic cable and constructed communications towers.
