OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Russell Westbrook won't play for the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday as he rests his surgically repaired knee.

Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said before the game that resting Westbrook occasionally was part of the Thunder's plans after the point guard's return from his most recent knee surgery, his third procedure since injuring the knee last April during the NBA playoffs.

Westbrook missed 27 games after the most recent surgery, returning to the lineup on Feb. 20. Brooks says there are no problems with Westbrook's knee and that Westbrook will play Monday when the Thunder visit the Chicago Bulls.

The Thunder have three back-to-backs between Sunday and March 25.

Reggie Jackson, who started for Westbrook during his earlier absences this season, started against the Mavericks.
