PROVO -- People may not realize it, but Utah has a strong music scene. The state has produced bands like "The Used" and "Neon Trees." Utah is also the place acts like "Joshua James" and "The Killers'" front man Brandon Flowers call home. Well, there's another homegrown act that's about to get a lot bigger.

Provo band "Fictionist," who recently made it to the final four of Rolling Stone Magazine's "Choose the Cover" contest, is about to make a big announcement.

The band has released a video called, "Fictionist Has an Announcement." The minute long video shows band members wandering around a Graywhale CD Exchange checking out the music selection.

Each member of the band picks up an album from big name artists including "Stone Temple Pilots," "Genesis," "John Coltrane," and "Led Zepplin." Each time they pick up a CD they look at the back and see the logo for Atlantic Records -- clearly making a point that Atlantic has been the home of some of the biggest music acts in history.

At the end of the video Fictionist front man Stuart Maxfield picks up their album, "Lasting Echo," and says, "Fictionist." The video then ends with a title card that reads, "Celebrate with us. Wednesday, September 21, Velour Live Music Gallery, Provo, Utah, USA."

Now, I'm no sleuth, but I'm also not a moron. The band says they have a big announcement and then releases a video pointing out some of the bands who have signed with Atlantic Records and then mention themselves in that group. I think it's pretty clear that Fictionist is about to become a part of the Atlantic Recording Company's family.

The only way to know for sure is to head down to Provo on Sept. 21, and hear it straight from the band.
