MOAB — Two people died in a plane crash near the Colorado border in Grand County on Wednesday.

Grand County Sheriff's Office said it received a report just before noon of a downed aircraft in a remote area in the Book Cliffs area. Deputies and emergency crews arrived on scene around 12:55 p.m.

The pilot and a second occupant in the plane both died in the crash. Their identities have not been released.

The plane was a chartered aircraft en route to Tacoma, Washington, from the Grand Junction Regional Airport in Colorado, the sheriff's office said.

Grand County Sheriff's Office said an investigation is underway to determine what caused the crash.
